POWERTEK PHILOSOPHY
PowerTek is a local company with strong ties to the surrounding community. PowerTek speaks with its actions and believes in the need to give back to the community. These actions help create a healthy community, which in turn creates a healthy living environment for ourselves and our employees. In addition to the enjoyment of giving back, recent studies have shown additional benefits to companies which have strong community involvement. These benefits include aiding further employee recruitment, creating a happier workforce, and improving employee retention. Employees also develop new skills from volunteer work, many of which they can apply to their PowerTek careers.
PowerTek continues to look toward finding new and interesting ways to grow involvement in our community, and encourages all employees to donate their time and resources to the myriad charities in the greater Northwest. These are a few of the local charities to which we contribute:
UNITED WAY OF WHATCOM COUNTY
PowerTek and its employees have participated yearly with the United Way Campaign since inception in 2000 and have been Campaign sponsors since 2014. PowerTek has been awarded the Live United and Joseph and Anne McClain awards in the past five years, while raising over $30,000 per year, on average.
SHADOW HIKE-A-THON
Every year since 2011, PowerTek employee Jason Sonker and his wife Jennifer have organized a Hike-a-thon to benefit local animal charities, including Old Dog Haven and Whatcom Humane Society. Since the creation of this event, they have raised over $55,000!
ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION
PowerTek and PowerTek employees have donated over $20,000 to this wonderful charity over the past 5 years, and aim to continue to do so in the future, through incredible events including the Jingle Bell Run/Walk and the Arthritis Foundation Golf Tournament and Gala.
